Sophia Filosa grew up in Toronto, Canada, and began competitive dance when she was 6. She got to train with industry professionals from across the country, and assisted choreographers in summer workshops. She graduated from Queen’s University in 2024 with a BA in Global Development Studies & History, with an additional Certificate of Business. During her degree, she was a major part of the two largest dance groups on campus, as the Co-President of the Queen’s Dance Club and the Co-Head of Dance for the Vogue Charity Fashion Show. In these roles, she directed and administratively put together final performances and recitals, all while dancing in and choreographing for the shows herself.

Sophia is now a graduate student in Boston University’s Arts Administration program. Her passions lie in establishing creative spaces that are safe, non-judgemental, and inclusive to all who enter them, no matter their artistic background.

This is her second season with DanceWorks Boston and she couldn’t be more excited to continue working with this team!
